Luggage Carts at SEA: Where to Find Them and What They Cost

Find Smarte Carte carts at SEA baggage claim, curbside, the garage and international arrivals. Carts in international arrivals are free.

Carts in SEA’s international arrivals facility are free, according to the Port’s arrivals walkthrough. Smarte Carte also supplies carts at baggage claim, curbside and in the parking garage. The Port’s baggage page and Smarte Carte’s SEA page give no rental rate for those locations.

Finding a cart when you arrive

For a domestic arrival, look for carts in baggage claim on the Main Terminal’s baggage claim level. The Port doesn’t give a carousel number for each station. Use the interactive map on the Port of Seattle’s baggage services page to find the closest one.

Our baggage claim guide places international claims at 18 through 24. If you’re connecting, go through passport control and recheck your bags with your airline. Then use the IAF Transfers Security Checkpoint, which exits into the A Concourse. Its listed hours are 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Pacific. The Port’s written cart guidance doesn’t say where you must return one or whether you can take it through that route. Ask staff before you leave the claim area.

To reach the garage from baggage claim, go up one floor to Main Terminal Level 4. Cross any of Skybridges 1 through 6 to garage Level 4. The Port doesn’t identify an individual garage cart station or specify cart capacity or return points. Taxis pick up at the north and south curbs on garage Level 3. App-based rideshare uses stalls 1 through 34 in the garage’s Level 3 Ground Transportation Plaza. Ask at the cart station before counting on taking one all the way to either pickup area.

What a luggage cart costs

For carts elsewhere, check the price and payment instructions at the station. If you need the cost before you arrive, call SEA Customer Care at (206) 787-5388. The line is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific.

Smarte Carte’s desk between Carousels 9 and 10 stores bags for a fee. Its bag storage prices do not tell you what a cart costs. Our luggage storage guide covers the desk, its hours and its prices.

More bags than you can push

For domestic flights, the Port lists two porting companies. Express Bag Services (general number 206-661-3560) wraps bags as well as carrying them. Axel Baggage Service LLC is at 206-631-1323. Ask each what they’ll charge and whether someone can help with your flight. Military travelers can arrange porting directly with Sky Caps Service at 206-661-3560. CLEAR Concierge is a paid service starting at $99 with a curbside greeting, bag assistance and an escort through the CLEAR+ lane. If you also need a wheelchair, our wheelchair assistance page covers that help.

Heading for Link light rail? From baggage claim, look for Carousel 16. Go up one floor, cross Skybridge 6, then turn left through garage Level 4 toward SeaTac/Airport Station. The Train-to-Plane cart boards near Skybridges 5 and 6 for the ride to the station. It’s free, runs daily from 5 a.m. to midnight and has space for bags at the back. It isn’t a luggage cart you push. Our Link light rail guide covers the train ride into Seattle.
