The Port of Seattle lists one airporter for Whidbey Island, the Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle, and it takes the ferry for you. The Port says it runs nine trips a day, about every two hours. Company fares for an adult run from $37 to $69, by route.

Premier’s door-to-door vans list Greater Puget Sound cities, including Everett, and the Port’s page doesn’t name Whidbey among them. Ask Premier before you count on it. Island Airporter is not the Whidbey van either: the Port lists it for Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor in the San Juan Islands.

How the Whidbey shuttle works

Book online with the company or call it at (360) 679-4003. The company says its phone line answers 24 hours a day. Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle & Charter is based in Oak Harbor, and its online booking asks for your date, your stop and your fare type.

At SEA, collect your bags first. Then head for the south end of the baggage claim level. The Port says the shuttle picks up at the curb on the Arrivals Drive outside Door 02, and you check in at the Airporter Check-In Counter near Door 00. Our scheduled airporters page shows the curb and the Airporters sign. If you’re unsure where baggage claim ends, our baggage claim guide lists the carousels.

The company tells riders to arrive at island stops 15 minutes early.

Fares

These are the company’s own figures. The company words its table from the island toward SeaTac, so confirm the SeaTac-to-island price in the booking flow before you pay.

Route (company’s label) Adult Senior or military Child
Oak Harbor – Clinton to SeaTac $64 $62 $46
NAS Whidbey to SeaTac $69 $67 $51
Mukilteo to SeaTac $55 $53 $49
Whidbey Island to Mukilteo $37 $35 $32

Changing or canceling costs $15 per person per leg, according to the company’s FAQ. Its contact page says to call right away if a change falls within 24 hours of departure.

The company’s general line says parking is $5 a day at select stops, which doesn’t match the $3 in its own table. Ask which price applies when you book. Stops at NAS Whidbey and NAS Navy Inn need base access.

For an extra charge, the company also serves five Oak Harbor hotels on State Route 20 and select SeaTac-area hotels, among them the Red Roof Inn, Hilton Seattle Airport, Seattle Airport Marriott, DoubleTree, Hampton Inn & Suites on 28th Ave, Aloft, Courtyard and Holiday Inn Express. Confirm your hotel stop when booking. The Port adds Paine Field to the service area, and one rider on the shuttle said it will take passengers there when needed.

If your flight runs late

Call the company and tell it the new arrival. One rider filmed for The Pirate and Aye channel said that after a late arrival you can call and ask for the next shuttle, and that the vans are normally not completely full. That’s one rider’s account. If the last shuttle has left, the Ground Transportation Information Booth takes taxi questions at (206) 787-5906.

Renting a car for Whidbey

Every SEA rental company is off-site, and the free shuttle to the rental facility runs around the clock. Our rental car guide lists the shuttle stops at baggage claim.

WSDOT lists the Mukilteo / Clinton route among its Whidbey crossings and lets you reserve a vehicle spot on some routes. The WSDOT page doesn’t say which routes take reservations, so open the route you plan to use.
