- Details
- Ten relief areas:
- Six after security and four outside. Janitorial issues: (206) 787-5229. Pets that traveled in the aircraft's cargo hold are collected outside the International Arrivals Facility exit. For dogs entering the U.S., the Port lists these requirements: healthy on arrival, at least 6 months old, a microchip a universal scanner can read, and the CDC Dog Import Form receipt. Many airlines restrict some dog and cat breeds, especially short-nosed breeds such as Boston terriers, boxers and bull dogs
- Some allow them in the cabin within size and weight guidelines, and a pet in the cargo hold means checking requirements and fees with the airline. At TSA screening, leash the pet, send the empty carrier through the X-ray tunnel and walk the pet through with you, or request a special secondary screening that does not require taking the pet out of its carrier. Animals are not allowed in a screening lane while the TSA K9s are working it, so an airport employee may redirect you to another checkpoint. Pets are not X-rayed, and when moving around the terminal with a pet, use the elevators, not the escalators, to prevent injury. All pets must be in travel carriers and leashed in the terminal
- The exception is training or service dogs and other specially trained pets assisting travelers with disabilities. The microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccine or the vaccine is invalid. Each airline sets its own seasonal temperature embargoes for animals, and SEA does not make the rules for traveling with animals, so coordinate with your airline
