Seattle Airport to Port Angeles: Dungeness Line Bus, Ferry and Driving
The Dungeness Line express leaves SEA at 1:45 p.m. for Port Angeles, about 3 hours, $54 by its own fare list. Pickup, other options, and a missed bus.

The Dungeness Line express is the simplest way from SEA to Port Angeles. It leaves at 1:45 p.m. from the curb by Door 00 and reaches Port Angeles at 4:45 p.m., about three hours later, by Dungeness Line’s own schedule. Its FAQ lists the express fare at $54.
Two slower Dungeness Line runs also leave SEA, at 11:50 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. They call at downtown Seattle and take the Edmonds to Kingston ferry, which Dungeness Line says the fare covers.
Which way to go
| Option | Leaves SEA | Reaches Port Angeles | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dungeness Line express | 1:45 p.m. | 4:45 p.m. | $54 (Dungeness Line’s fare list) |
| Dungeness Line, morning run | 11:50 a.m. | 4:10 p.m. | Dungeness Line’s FAQ gives $24 to $54 by distance and no separate fare for this run |
| Dungeness Line, evening run | 7:00 p.m. | 11:40 p.m. | Same as the morning run |
| Link, ferry and a bus from Bainbridge Island | Not tied to a SEA arrival. The one sourced trip used an 8:45 a.m. ferry and a 10:20 a.m. bus | No SEA total. One traveler’s bus took about 2 hours from Bainbridge | $3 for Link, other fares on the operators’ sites |
| Rental car | Rental shuttle runs 24 hours | 2 hours 34 minutes by Rome2Rio’s estimate | Rome2Rio estimates $33 to $47 for the drive |
Dungeness Line says a 15% fuel surcharge applies to all fares and can change, so confirm the total when you book.
Rome2Rio lists the bus at 4 hours 20 minutes and $70 to $85. That doesn’t match Dungeness Line’s own $54 express fare or its 3-hour express schedule.
Catching the Dungeness Line at SEA
Go to the baggage claim level and walk to the south end, past Carousel 1. Scheduled airporters, Dungeness Line among them, board at the curb outside Doors 00 and 02, under the Airporters sign, next to Checkpoint 1. Dungeness Line describes its pickup as the end of Arrivals Drive, through Door 00.
The airporter check-in counter is inside, near Door 00 in the Gina Marie Lindsey Arrivals Hall. Our scheduled airporters page lists every operator at this curb.
Coming back, the bus drops you at SEA on the Departures Drive bus zone before the international check-in area, with arrivals at 10:00 a.m., 11:20 a.m. and 4:40 p.m.
If you can’t find the curb, call the Port’s Ground Transportation Booth at (206) 787-5906.
The bus has no bathroom, but the express makes a restroom stop in both directions. Before you board, our Urban Market listing puts sandwiches and bottled water by Bag Claim 7, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. before security. Our Starbucks listing puts coffee by Bag Claim 6 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
How long to allow after landing
Dungeness Line says all times are approximate and asks you to be at the stop 15 minutes early. For the 1:45 p.m. express, that means standing at Door 00 by 1:30 p.m. The bus doesn’t wait for late passengers.
The reschedule cutoff is 45 minutes before departure, which is 1:00 p.m. for the express. If your flight hasn’t reached the gate by then, move to the 7:00 p.m. run.
Our baggage claim guide shows which carousel your airline uses.
Which run suits your arrival
| Run | Be at Door 00 | Suits | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11:50 a.m. | 11:35 a.m. | A morning landing | Stops at more places than the express |
| 1:45 p.m. express | 1:30 p.m. | A landing around midday | The fastest, and the only run with a $54 fare printed for it |
| 7:00 p.m. | 6:45 p.m. | A late-afternoon landing | Reaches Port Angeles at 11:40 p.m., so book a bed before you leave SEA |
Where the runs stop
The express lists no stops between SEA and Sequim, which is why it’s the fast one. It reaches Sequim at 4:05 p.m., and Port Angeles follows 40 minutes later.
The other two runs stop at downtown Seattle first, then reach the Edmonds ferry dock at 1:15 p.m. or 8:45 p.m. Kingston follows at 2:10 p.m. or 9:40 p.m. The schedule warns that ferry times change by season.
After Kingston, both runs stop at Port Townsend and Discovery Bay before Sequim.
Port Townsend is a starred stop, so book it by phone at 866-235-5247 at least 24 hours ahead. The express doesn’t call there.
Sequim’s stop is the bus bench at the Sequim Village Center, 651 West Washington Street. The three runs arrive at 3:40 p.m., 4:05 p.m. and 11:10 p.m.
In Port Angeles you get off at the Gateway Transit Center, 123 East Front Street, downtown across from “Sound Bikes & Kayaks”.
Tickets, bags and rules

If your flight runs late or you miss the bus
Tickets are non-refundable, but you can reschedule through your account or the Find Boarding Pass page until that 45-minute mark. If your flight slips past that mark, call Dungeness Line support at 866-235-5247. Its FAQ says a travel credit may be issued after review.
The FAQ also promises a credit for the disrupted trip when a delay outside its control makes you miss the bus. It names a Hood Canal delay as one example.
Anyone meeting you in Port Angeles can follow the bus on Dungeness Line’s tracker at ride.dungeness-line.com/bus-tracker/.
Link, ferry and a bus: the no-car route
One traveler, on the channel my perfect alaska cruise, filmed a route from Seattle without a car. The plan was a ferry from downtown to Bainbridge Island, then a bus to Port Angeles. It took a 10-minute walk from downtown to the ferry building, and the ferry left at 8:45 a.m. with boarding just before.
From SEA, Link reaches Westlake Station in 39 minutes for $3, by Sound Transit’s timetable. Our light rail guide has the walk from carousel 16 and the first and last trains. The video doesn’t name a downtown stop, so match your Link stop to the ferry terminal on a map before you leave.
- The ferry. The traveler says the ride took 35 to 40 minutes, with unassigned seats inside and outside. The traveler says an ORCA card can pay the fare, and you can also use the ticket booth.
- The bus. It left Bainbridge Island at 10:20 a.m. The traveler stowed luggage under the bus.
- The risk. The traveler says Clallam Transit’s page notes the bus doesn’t wait for ferry delays. The same video says a cash fare needs exact change.
The traveler suggested checking the ferry and bus schedules separately. The two operators are Washington State Ferries and Clallam Transit.
Driving to Port Angeles
The rental car facility is off-site at 3150 S. 160th St. A free shuttle runs 24 hours a day from the lower drive outside baggage claim and takes about five minutes. Our rental car shuttle page lists the boarding points, and our rental cars guide covers the facility address and return directions.
Rome2Rio puts the drive at about 125 miles and 2 hours 34 minutes. It doesn’t say which route it assumes or whether the time includes a ferry wait, so take it as a best-case drive time.
One traveler, on Frugal Panda’s Travels & Reviews, drove to Port Angeles by back roads instead of the ferry and got caught in construction. The video says the ferry would have been much sooner.
After you get to Port Angeles
If you arrive on the 4:10 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. bus, you land in the hour when the Frugal Panda traveler walked downtown Port Angeles, around 4 or 5 p.m. on a late-season visit. The video reports several places closed and one listed as open but shut.
The same traveler from my perfect alaska cruise found the Port Angeles Visitor Center almost at the bus stop, and it held luggage for free. A local bus to the Olympic National Park Visitor Center in town was free on that trip, and the walk from the stop took 10 to 15 minutes.
The traveler said the $1 Hurricane Ridge Shuttle needed a park entry pass, sold at that visitor center or online.
