Where to nurse or change a baby at SEA

SEA has nursing suites, rooms and pods. Where each sits, what's inside, and where to change a diaper.

SEA has nursing suites, rooms and pods. Every concourse has at least one. The Port says a single parent or a family can use them to pump, breast feed or bottle feed, whatever the parent’s gender.

Nursing spaces by concourse

Concourse Type Where
A Room Inside the Children’s Play Area, next to Qdoba
A Pod Near Gate A10E, by the restrooms
B Pod Near Gate B11
C Room Third floor, above Gate C3
C Pod Near Gate C10A/B
D Room Near Gate D1
D Room Lower level of the D Annex (Gates D21 to D26, across from Gate D5), near Gate D24 and across from the restrooms
N Suite Mezzanine level, near the Alaska Lounge
S Pod Between the train and concourse levels, by the escalators
International Arrivals Facility Room Mezzanine level, near the family restrooms. Only for passengers arriving from abroad

What each type has

Type What it adds
Suite Shared seating, semi-private spaces, a single-use restroom, a changing table and sinks
Room A private space sized for one family, with a sink
Pod A single-user modular unit with a mirror for redressing

All three have a lockable door, a place to sit, a flat surface and an electrical outlet, and all are accessible. Only the suite lists a changing table. From a room or a pod, change the baby in a restroom.

The Port asks you to leave the space clean, take your belongings, keep your stay short and never leave a child alone. It publishes no hours, no reservation system and no wait information for any nursing space. Customer Care is at (206) 787-5388 or (800) 544-1965.

Which one to use

  • Landing from abroad. The room by the family restrooms in the International Arrivals Facility is for you, and no one else can use it.
  • Connecting from an international flight. The IAF Transfers checkpoint exits into the A Concourse, so the A room and the A10E pod are your first two options.
  • Gate on A, B, C or D. These four join on foot. A, C and D have two spaces each, so a busy one has a backup on the same concourse. B has one.
  • Gate on N or S. Both need the airside train, and each has one space. Ride the Green Line to N for the suite. The Blue Line reaches S, where the pod sits by the escalators.

The suite is the better pick for a long feed with a change, because it has the restroom and the changing table under one roof. A pod holds one user, so it fits a fast pump or a quiet feed.

Where to change a diaper

Where What’s there Location
Family restrooms and most other restrooms Changing tables Throughout the terminal, marked on the airport’s interactive map
Family restrooms by the play areas Changing tables Near the Gate A1 and Gate D25 play areas
All-gender restroom 10 large single-person stalls with full-height locking doors and several baby changing tables D Concourse, after security, near Checkpoint 5
Companion care restrooms Adult changing tables Added in the B, C and D Concourse renovation

Before security, open the airport map and filter to family restrooms.

Diapers, wipes and a stroller

The Port says Hudson stores sell diapers and medicine.

Store Where Security side Listed hours
Hudson Central Terminal After security Around the clock
Hudson Gate C9 After security 4:15 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Hudson Gate D22, in the D Annex After security Opens 4:30 a.m. Check the listing for closing time
7-Eleven Baggage Claim 15 Before security Around the clock

Formula comes from the Baby Foodie vending machine by Gate A1, next to the Children’s Play Area. It also stocks snacks, diapers, wipes, pacifiers and hand sanitizing wipes. The 7-Eleven listing shows toiletries and snacks.

Strollers and car seats rent from Baggage Service by Smarte Carte, on the baggage claim level between Carousels 9 and 10. The Port publishes no rental price, so call the desk at (206) 248-3645. It’s open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and closes 11:30 a.m. to noon and 6 to 6:30 p.m.

When it goes wrong

  • The A room is inside the Gate A1 play area. The Port closes that play area for deep cleaning on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 a.m. It doesn’t say whether the room inside closes too, so use the A10E pod in those hours.
  • The D24 room is downstairs. The D Annex sits on Level 3, the baggage claim level, across from Gate D5. Go down from the D gates, or head to the room near Gate D1 instead.
  • You need a quiet space. The two sensory rooms are open 4 a.m. to midnight, in the A Station hallway near the elevators and on the third floor above Gate C3. Call (206) 787-5229 and press 1 for the key code.
  • You’re about to join a long security line. SEA says more than a third of the day’s travelers arrive before 9 a.m., so feed or change the baby before you join the queue.
